"Anything, you say?"
Sa'Raia nodded. "Yes, oh wise and gracious master. I live now only to servce you."
Jon thought about it for a moment - having his own personal Genie would be very cool - and the fact that the Genie used to be Sarah McMillan only made it cooler. But he already had the rock to grant wishes. Of course, thanks to Sarah's last wish, Jon found he preferred to have Sa'Raia grant his wishes rather than the rock... But which trumped which? he wondered.
"Listen, uh, Sa'Raia - whose magic is more powerful, yours or the wishing rock's?"
"Both, my master."
"Uh - what?"
"It is very simple, master," she said, sitting cross-legged on his floor. "Unlike the rock, my powers are not limited by distance - I can affect things all over the world and beyond. And if it is your desire, I can also negate any of my previous wishes. The only thing I cannot do is kill or return the dead to life. However, since I was granted my powers by the rock itself, I cannot undo any wishes fulfilled by the it."
Jon thought for a moment. "So in other words, if I have you change a dog into a cat, you can change it back when I want, but if I use the rock to do it, it's stuck as a cat, right?"
"That is correct!" Sa'Raia said eagerly. "Oh, you are so wise, my master!"
A smile spread across Jon's face. With Sa'Raia, he could do a lot more than he could with just the rock. And the rock was his ace in the hole - something he could use to undo any mistakes he made with Sa'Raia. This was just perfect!
