Molly looked at her pet parrot with growing horror. Gabby had never been able to speak so many different words, and certianly not form proper sentinces! As Gabby made strange weeping noises intermixed with her squawks, Molly began to believe her.
"So...your not my parrot Gabby?"
"NO!" the parrot wailed.
"Then who are you?"
"I'm Polly Van Buren! I anchor the 11 o'clock news on channel 6!"
Molly gasped at that! She had seen Polly Van Buren on tv just a few minutes ago, squawking and flapping like a parrot.
"You we're just on tv!"
"I know that! Oh how could this have happend?"
"But you were acting like a parrot!"
Gabby stopped wailing for a moment, then said "OH NO! Somehow my mind must have been switched with your parrot, Gabby! It sounds like science fiction, but there's no other explanation for it. Quick! Tell me where you live!
Molly, getting excited by the bizarre concept, told Gappy her address.
Gabby, or Polly, thought it over and said "That's about 2 hours from my house, but I cant go home like this! Thats about an hour and a half from the station..."
Molly interjected "But I dont have a car."
"Do you live with your parents or a room mate?"
"Parents, but it's after 11 o'clock. They'd never give me a ride into the city this late. I dont think even a talking parrot could convince them!"
Polly looked crestfallen, then suddenly hopefull. "Wait a minute! Did you say your address is 1404 N. Bluebell Lane?"
"Uh, yes. But what..?"
"I know someone who lives in this area! Vanessa McMillian! She's a very dear friend of mine. I'm sure it's only a little ways to walk, and she's the only one who'd believe this mess!"
"Why? What would make her believe you? Besides, didn't you take her job?
Gabby shifted uneasily on her perch, and said "Well, 'Taken' isn't real the word, dear. I was the most qualified for the job. And I'm sure that she's not the sort of person to hold a grudge. Besides, I need to tell someone and with her background she's the only person who'd believe me. She's had such a strange life, what with her daughter being a 7 ft giant who's been signed to play with the Bull's, and her husband devorcing her to run off with that 400+ pound bimbo, she may be the only person who's seen enough strangeness to believe me. Please, Molly! This may be my only hope!"
Molly scratched her chin and said "Well..."
