Sarah ferociously drummed her fingers in her phone as she texted Montanna's parents for more information. The moments passed them blindingly quick as they were able to slip past reception, up the stairs, and navigated to the room with the waiting room with the help of a nurse. They reached intensive care, but were stopped by the clerk. "Montanna Whitmore? I'm sorry, I can't let you back... Ms.Whitmore's situation turned critical this morning, and we're only letting family back right now."

Jon and Karen acknowledged her silently and tugged Sarah back from the desk. The girls seemed shocked again, and buried herself in her phone in a few frantic moments.

"Sharah. Let'sh fix thish. Pay attention."

"We did this..."

"What are you talking about?"

"I... I mean we did this. We..." Her voice became tight and tinny. "We found out earlier because Montanna's situation worsened"

She showed the pair her phone, and realization dawned on them slowly. On the screen was a text chain that read.

"Sarah, this is Montanna's dad. We called your mom to give her and update, but couldn't reach her. Montanna's situation is getting worse, and we would like you to come."

As the two read, they spied a few of the responses that the wish had filled in.

"What?! What situation are you talking about?"

"Did your mother not tell you?"

"That bitch doesn't care enough to tell me any..."

Before the pair could read any further Sarah snatched the phone back. "Our wish just made it worse! Again!"

Jon begins to massage her temple, then looked up at Sarah startled. "Again? What was the first time?"

Sarah recoiled as if she had been struck. "I. I didn't want this to happen..."

"Sarah!" Karen interjected as her hand went from crossed to her hips. "Tell us what you mean."

Through a tight voice Sarah choked out the word. "I did this... She was supposed to be the Homecoming queen... But I... I wished I was selected, not elected. The wish had to get her out of the way to give me the title."

The pair sighed as Sarah's arrogant facade broke, and she began to cry. Her knees weakened under her as she fell back into a chair, hiding her tears, and her shame.

"If... If we fix this. I'm disapproving every wish from then on! These are evil."

Karen snapped. "When we fix this... WHEN, then you're going to fix us too."

Sarah wiped her eyes and looked up. "You're... right. You're right. I've been a monster. I have been a - a demon, and a bitch, and everything... Everything you said is true. I'm so sorry."

The girl devolved into another puddle of tears and Jon sighed. "Let's do this."

He ushered the weeping girl from her seat, and gathered them in a family restroom where they locked the door. Sarah's sobs echoed pitifully off of the tiled walls. The beige room was stuffy, meant only for parents and their toddlers, not three fully grown adults. But it gave them privacy, and that was all they needed.

"I wish" Jon began "That Montanna couldn't be homecoming queen because she had a small surgery scheduled that day, but that she hadn't been badly injured at all, and would recover to be better than before!"

Sarah listened to the wish. Her entire being deliberated over every word. Finally she relented. "Granted..."
