Sarah summons up her courage and faces Montanna.
"L-listen..." She chides herself for her stammer. She doesn't stutter. She's Sarah McMillan. She moves with purpose and meaning in everything! "This is going to sound crazy, but I can prove it. They have something that's magic. That stone I talked about is magic. If you can help me get it without them knowing I can prove it!"
Montanna leans back and looks at her with intensity. "Girl, if I didn't hear you say it myself, I'd assume you were joking... You're serious about this, aren't you?"
"Yes." Sarah said with as straight a face as she could muster.
"And you want this rock... why?" Montanna's face still looks skeptical, but perhaps a little more receptive.
"They used it to ..." Sarah smacks her face as she realizes how ridiculous it sounds and sighs. "Curse me..."
Montanna's skeptical gaze returns. "So Marie, One of our closest friends, has a magic rock that she used to curse you with, and you want me to help steal it back."
Sarah hides her hands in her face. her confidence quickly evaporating with every word Montanna says. "Yes..."
"What's this curse even supposed to do?"
Sarah shakes her head. "It doesn't matter. I shouldn't have said anything. I'm going home."
"Stop Sarah!" Montanna hurries over to grab the fleeing girls hand. "Look, you have to know how unbelievable this sounds... Is it..." Montanna holds up her hands. "Maybe..." She continues looking across the ceiling for an answer. "Maybe something that Jon's little sister Zoe did? I mean, I know she's into all that Wicca stuff, and she's no friend of cheerleaders..." She offers a sympathetic gaze to Sarah.
Slowly, a calming aura just washes over Sarah. "Zoe...?" She mumble softly. "Of course..." She glances back to the other girl. "No... I'm sorry I said anything. It's just a silly anxiety of mine." She crosses her arms. "Aggie and I... are going through a rough patch."
The bell rings at that moment and Montanna looks to it, then back to her friend. "Alright, well. Whenever you're ready to talk, I'm right here."
Sarah nods her head appreciatively and pushes out of the door. A few moments later she stands at the exit of the school building. Her thoughts are racing as she tries to weigh the cost of sticking around. She certainly has no problem with blowing off class for a day, but the deciding factor is the chance to catch Zoe without Aggie around... With an injured resolution she nods her head and makes her way to class.
