Things started out smoothly enough. The first period instructor was boring as usual, and Sarah daydreamed the entire time. Then came math.
All throughout math class, Sarah kept glancing at the chair where Karyn once sat. It was currently occupied by another student, but every once in a while, the cheerleader would imagine she saw the girl's shape in the corner of her vision. The mirage, however, would fade as soon as she focused on it.
The next class brought even more weirdness. Mr. Johnson, the Political Science instructor, announced a pop quiz. When Sarah tried to write her name in the appropriate section, she had to go through several false starts. Finally getting it down, she frowned at the result. Was her handwriting always so messy?
She shook her head, figuring it was just one of those days.
