"Mom?" He spoke very softly, "Are you alright?" He took a step toward her. "Look mom, if you want my shoes, you can have them." He lifted one foot up, unstrapped the ankle and slid it off, revealing his manly feet. After doing the same with his other foot, he stood barefoot on the floor and offered the shoes to his mother.
Jane blinked and examined the 3" Manolo pumps held before her, she had never thought that feminine shoes could be this big. Jon was relieved to see even such a small reaction.
"Seriously mom, you can have them. If they make you feel better, take them. Don't worry about it, I've got plenty!" He was smiling now, trying to catch her eye. "I don't know what you want with them, though, my shoes are too big for you."
It was then that she looked down and realized how small the sneakers she had on were. They were easily one of the smallest sneakers she had ever seen.
Jon did not care too much about losing his shoes to his mother. Sure, thery were really nice, but he had plenty. Very often his father had always taken him shopping for new shoes.
So what if his mother had taken an interest in his shoes? It may be a bit weird to see a woman in his shoes, but maybe it would make the shopping trips more enjoyable now that his mother could also join in.
But one thing was bothering him, how his mom was acting like those were her shoes all along. "Could she have made a wish about swapping our shoes?" thought Jon, now looking for the stone. He went straight to the place where he had left, panic then ensued, the box wasn't there!
Looking around his room he noticed that it was all very clean, almost like his mother had taken some time to clean his room today. Scouring his room up and down he finally found the box under his pillow. Opening it he saw the stone still in the same place where he left it.
"Phew! For a second I was really worried." Now, with the stone in hand an idea came to his mind: he could wish to calm down his mother a bit. Clutching the stone with his fist, Jon said:
"I wish ..."
