Later, Biff came by in his sports car to pick her up. He seemed surprised at her appearance, but he chose not to say anything. Along the way, he kept trying to put his hand on her thigh, but she rebuffed his advances. For some reason, she was just not in the mood. Besides, she had given him his allotment of affection the previous week. If she let him assume this to be the silent treatment for some offense on his part, she knew he would go out of his way to be extra nice to her until she chose to reward his efforts.
When they got to campus, Sarah left her hapless boyfriend struggling to guess what he did wrong and entered the school alone. Immediately, she was greeted by Tiffany, a fellow cheerleader and part of her inner circle. "Hey, Sarah! What's up, girl?"
"Oh, y'know. Same as usual," Sarah answered. Then, she noticed Tiffany looking at her funny. "What?"
"Um, what's with the outfit?"
"What do you mean?"
The other girl shrugged. "It's just that it's kind of tame for you, I guess. Trying out a different look?"
Sarah frowned down at herself. It was true that the simple t-shirt and jeans did seem rather subdued, but there was no way she would admit it to anyone. "Hm, yes, I'm just experimenting. Is there something wrong with that?" She narrowed her eyes at the other girl.
Seeing her expression, Tiffany averted her gaze, well aware of the head cheerleader's infamous temper. "No, nothing's wrong. It looks good on you."
Satisfied the issue had been dealt with, the blonde continued towards her locker. Shifting her purse on her shoulder, she thought about the wishing rock hidden inside. With such power at her disposal, the opinions of her peers mattered little now. She only had to keep the thing safe until she could figure out how she wanted to use it. With what she had done to Jon and Karyn, she knew full well the dangers of allowing the rock to fall into someone else's hands. Perhaps, she should keep it in her locker for the time being.
