Jon had scoured the neighborhood the next day. He couldn't find the rock and never did. Going to school was rough for those last few months he'd never had a close friend and as the revelries around graduation grew his loneliness festered.
He was happy when he'd finally gone off to university. Choosing to attend a school a few hours drive away. It was his chance to make a difference in his own life and see if he could get a fresh start.
His first few months went well, he'd even made a few friends. It was a Friday night and he was getting ready to go hangout with the gang. He grabbed a new pair of jeans that he'd bought, and tried to pull them up his legs. They got stuck at the hips. Jon thought to himself that he must have gained a bit of weight. Since he'd bought the jeans in his usual size.
He turned to his room mate who was also getting ready, though he was looking to get into a frat party off campus. "Did you shrink my jeans man?"
"Nah, if I was going to mess with you I'd have already done it. You never prank a guy that sleeps with you. Wait, that came out wrong," Jeremy said.
"I get what you're saying, just checking, they don't fit." Jon said.
"Dude, you're just filling into your adult shape, it happens, all this freedom and you eat too much, you should come to the gym with me if you're worried about it. Take care of those little man boobies of yours."
"Shut up." Jon said and shimmied into his jeans. "they fit good enough I guess." Jon looked at the mirror on the back of his door, his jeans were tight in the hips and the thighs. This must just be a smaller brand he thought to himself.
With that thought he grabbed his jacket and headed for the door.
