The coach returned to the school shortly before the bell signaling the end of lessons for the morning. Most of the students were only too glad to be told that they could go straight to their lunch after all they had spent a whole morning looking around a rather boring museum with their teachers. Some of them had enjoyed the morning some for the right reasons some just because it got them out of class for the morning.
Lonna went to find Lauren she had to tell her about the lecture at the museum. However, when she got to her locker just down the hall from Laurens’ Classroom she found Mary standing at the door chatting with Lauren as if they had been friends for years. Lonna thought that she could be that good a friend with a teacher no matter if she was a teacher or a student at the school. She headed to get herself something to eat. It was while doing this she saw Zoey.
“Hey, Zoey what class do you have next?” Lonna asked knowing full well that she had Lauren and chemistry after lunch. She knew this because Zoey never stopped telling anyone who would listen to her how good she was at chemistry and that it was all down to Ms Tran. Last week Lonna would have been blushing to hear such praise coming from one of her students but having heard this on and off for most of the week from Zoey she had become numb to this fact.
“Well, it's Thursday afternoon so I have my favorite class with my favorite teacher. Chemistry with Ms, Tran. Why do you ask?” Zoey asked her looking her up and down. It was well known that Lonna did not get on well with her favorite teacher.
“Oh, no reason really. It's just that while I was on the field trip Ms. Smith said that Ms Tran’s favorite Professor was speaking at the museum we went to this morning. She thought that she would like to go and see her. She even gave me a leaflet all about her latest book.” Lonna replied to her fellow student. She tried not to wince too much as Zoey called Lauren Ms, Tran. She hoped that Lauren had noticed her latest changes as she did not one to have to be the one to point them out to her.
“Let me see,” Zoey said with her hand outstretched to see the leaflet that Lonna was talking about. Lonna reached into her bag and handed her the leaflet she had picked up at the museum which had all the information about the lecture.
“See I wasn’t making it up. You can ask Ms. Smith she was the one who told me all about the Professor and how inspiring her work was.” Lonna told Zoey. Zoey took the leaflet from Lorna’s hand and looked at it to make sure it was genuine.
I will let her know before Ms Smith does that way she will see how much attention I pay to her during her classes. Zoey thought as she grabbed the leaflet from Lonna’s hand and ran towards Laurens’ classroom. At that moment the bell which signaled the start of afternoon classes went off.
That couldn’t have worked out better if I wanted it to. Lonna thought. She had realized from her time as a student this week just her much of a brown nose Zoey was and that she would deliver the leaflet to her beloved Ms Tran for her. She shuddered again thinking of Lauren as Ms Tran now that she had figured out what had happened to her. Just as Lonna thought would happen Zoey had missed entirely the note that Lonna had put on the leaflet. She knew that Lauren would find it and wait for her once again after that afternoon's lessons so that they could plan how they could contact Professor Black and see what information she had about the stone without her thinking that they were mad or worse. Now all she needed to do was to get through the next few hours.
