The bell for the end of the day sounded and Lonna was glad to hear it. Normally for her, it meant a time to catch up on any outstanding work that she had left. A time to prepare for the next day. However today it meant the end of lessons. She had spent a second day as a high school student. It wasn’t as bad as she remembered it being when she was younger but still it was not something she wanted to be. She wished that she could return to her old life of being a teacher rather than a student. Maybe now she would be able to catch up with Lauren and see if she had found out anything that could help them. More importantly, she could find out what had happened last night.

“Hey, Lonna.” A voice shouted from down the corridor. Lonna turned to see Jake coming towards her. Her Boyfriend Jake, well he was for the moment she thought to herself. She stopped and waited for him to catch up to her. “Hi honey how has your day been?” He asked her. “Not too bad. I managed to avoid Ms. Rodriguez this morning apparently she had something to do so she was late.” Lonna told him. No wait she wants to speak to Lauren not to avoid her.

“You won’t have the same luck on the way to your locker I saw her car in the carpark when I came back from lunch,” Jake informed her. Lonna found herself staring at him thinking of how cute he was and how she would stop Susie from stealing him away from her. “I need to go to the ladies Jake I will call you tonight,” Lonna told him. “No worries I have practice to go to Beautiful good luck getting passed Rodriguez on the way out. “ Jake said to her as he kissed her and headed towards the football ground.

Lonna walked into the bathroom as some of the other girls were leaving it. Lonna once again found herself looking in a bathroom mirror however this time she was trying hard not to show the blush that she knew would be evident on her face. Sure enough, the red was showing. When she had been at high school there weren't that many boys who would kiss her in the corridor. Just yesterday she had been just another single teacher and just a little over 24 hours later here she was a high school student with a good-looking boyfriend. As she looked in the mirror she thought back to what she had been feeling just a few minutes before. Was that love towards Jake she knew that she had been feeling anger towards her “Best Friend” Susie. The longer she stood there the more she realized that she was having difficulty separating her life from Laurens’.

How had she gotten herself into this mess? No wait she hadn’t it had been that stupid stone that had done this. The stone that had vanished after causing this situation. A situation that according to Mrs. Sheppard, she was stuck in till at least the end of the week unless Lauren had found out anything that resolved it sooner. She needed to see her before leaving school that afternoon. She was glad in one respect for Jake having his practice that afternoon. This meant that she would not have to explain why she wanted to see Lauren who as far as he knew was a teacher that she hated. She was also sad that he had left her as she certainly had feelings for him that were different from the day before.

“Heading to your locker?” Mary Elliot asked her as she got closer to the door of her old classroom. “yes Ms”. Was the only thing that Lonna could think to say. She could not think of a good reason to say to the woman who had yesterday been one of her friends but now was a figure of authority within the school. If she had told her the truth she knew that Ms Elliot would not believe her. “Well on you go then,” Mary told her as she turned to enter the same classroom that she wanted to go into. Lonna knew the and there that her plans for speaking to Lauren before leaving had been sunk and she would not be able to do so until the following day.

This would mean she would be spending even more time as a high school student even if Lauren had found something to help. Surely if she had she would have come looking for her. Of course, she would have. Lauren would not want to spend any more time than she needed to as a teacher. Anyway, there was nothing that she could do about it tonight. She went to the locker that she had been using that day removed her bag, left the school grounds, and started her walk back home, or at least to where she was living at the moment.
