DING DONNNGG!
Mary's heart leaped into my throat. Mom and I looked at each other, before she got up and strode over to the front door.
To my knowledge we weren't expecting anybody, and now was the time of day when solicitors usually come by.
But... what if it was one of my friends from school? I tried avoiding them over the past month, but sadly my pregnancy was no secret.
When I first logged on to my Facebook account a month ago, I was surprised to see all of the positive comments and messages from
people at school regarding the pregnancy. Apparently, word got out that I was being a surrogate "mother" for a neighbor couple who
couldn't have children. Unlike the stigma usually associated with pregnancies at such a young age, people from school thought it was
either really smart (because of the money I was making out of the deal) or really considerate (because of the neighbors' circumstances).
If their comments on my Facebook wall were any indication, my friends were generally supportive about the whole thing. It even drew
the attention of some of the girls at school, who thought it was really sexy. Boy, reading that really made my head spin!
Even though it was well received by students and teachers alike, it didn't make me feel any better about it. Which was why I hoped that
the person at the front door was some stranger. As luck would have it, I got quite a different surprise indeed.
From the kitchen, I heard Mom squeaking the front door open.
"Well, hello there! Michael, it's the Webers!" She called out from the foyer. "Please, come in! Make yourselves at home. You should have
called me in advance, I would have tidied up the house a little bit beforehand." She chuckled. Josh Weber and his wife, Mary, stepped into
the foyer, conscientiously taking off their sneakers and setting them beside the door.
"Thanks, Lindsey. We saw your car in the driveway and figured that you were home early." Observed Josh.
Mary nodded, her wavy, golden-blonde hair bobbing up and down slightly. Brushing the hair out of her eyes, she beamed, "We're sorry to
come about unannounced. I hope this isn't a bad time for you or Michael?"
"Not at all! It's a coincidence that you showed up. We were just talking about the pregnancy before you arrived. Michael, sweetie, come here
and say hello to the Webers!" Mom cried out to me.
I sighed, pushing myself away from the table and gingerly trudged into the foyer. There, eagerly awaiting, stood Mr. and Mrs. Weber, the
neighbors whose lives had become intertwined with my own.
I noticed that Mary and Josh now stood at around the same height, whereas before Josh towered over his cute, petite wife. She had MY body
dressed in a tight-fitting polo shirt, tucked into a pair of beige khaki shorts, and plain white socks. Still unused to seeing her like that, I almost
flinched when I saw a very familiar 'bulge' tracing the area where my body's penis should be. My manhood, now residing snugly under the control
of the neighbor lady, and nobody seemed to care!
"Wow! You're getting so big!" Mary gushed, stepping forward with her arms outreached in an embrace. She loomed over me like a giant now,
as did everyone including Mom a little bit. She hugged me softly, but I still felt my breasts quash up against her flat chest.
"How many weeks has it been, Michael?"
"Uh... 23, 24 weeks?" I said, looking down at the body which once belonged to her.
"It'll be 24 weeks on Friday." Clarified my mom. "I've scheduled an appointment with Dr. Jurgens this weekend."
"Great!" Mary chirped. "Do you want to chat here, or would you rather find a place to sit?"
"Michael's been sitting on his rear end all day long! It'll do him good to move around a bit." Mom interjected, causing my face to flush with
embarrassment. I hate it when she talks like I'm not there.
Sensing my discomfort, Josh replied, "Y'know, we don't want to trouble the boy too much. Let's go out on the front porch and enjoy the weather!"
I nodded to him in appreciation, to which he grinned knowingly.
We went out to our front porch, which overlooked the street and had a bench, small table, and rocking chair. Mary pulled out a seat and helped
me into one of the chairs, which was unnecessary but I thanked her anyway. It was a nice day today, even though the August heat still reminded
everyone of the dog days of summer. Mom returned inside the house to get some refreshments. She gave Mary and Josh a beer and poured me
a glass of lemonade.
Mary cracked open her beer and sighed. "I am so glad we've gotten to know each other so well."
"We get along like a real Lucy and Ethel, don't we?" Tittered my mom, rehashing the same story about her job that she told me just a few minutes ago.
Josh sipped his beer calmly, phasing in and out of the conversation while gazing at the cars going by in the neighborhood.
"I have to say, using a surrogate birthing was one of our better ideas," Chirped Mary, her female head looking bizarre perched atop my male physique.
"We had tried various sexual positions, Josh and I, but nothing seemed to work. I just couldn't get pregnant."
I rolled my eyes. Gee, I wonder why!
"... Which is when Josh suggested we ask your son. Not wanting to risk asking anybody to bear our ch1ld, we wanted someone we knew and whom we
could trust. In addition, using a surrogate means that I can still go to work during the pregnancy. I don't have to take time off, and -- to be painfully honest --
I think employers like it when their female employees choose not to take that kind of time away from work."
"It's a fact of life, Mary dear. I remember when I was pregnant with Michael, I decided to quit my job serving tables. It would have been too difficult to
keep it going and turnover in that line of work is pretty high. That was a long, long time ago." My mother sighed dreamily.
"And now your own son is pregnant." Stated Josh before tipping back his beer another time.
"I know! Time goes by too fast, doesn't it?" She smiled warmly.
At this point, I felt I needed to say something to appear interested in the adults' boring small talk. So I set aside my lemonade and added, "Well, uh,
this is a very interesting experience for me. I guess you could say it came as quite a surprise at first!" Gesturing to the swollen mound protruding fro
my belly. Which was technically true, since it was by accident that I swapped with Mary like this. Reminding me once again of the stupid decision I made
ever putting on that ring in the first place.
Speaking of rings, I looked over Mary's fingers for any strange-looking pieces of jewelry resembling the ring I had put on about a month ago. She only wore
a silver-banded wedding ring, which seemed made for men rather than women. Was that the same ring as before? I couldn't remember to be honest.
"So has the baby been kicking at all lately?" Asked Josh, turning the group's attention toward me once again.
"Um... occasionally." I replied.
"Oooh, that is so cute! Would you mind if I feel for anything?" Asked Mary.
"Go for it." I said reluctantly. What was I going to do? Refuse to let her feel up her own baby in her own body?
Mary leaned forward and hovered her large, male hand over my belly. I noticed that her arms were toned and hairy, looking quite out of place on such a lovely
woman's head. Then again, my own arms were now short, flabby, and hairless, as were my legs. Mary rubbed her hand over my belly gently, giving me a
surprisingly soothing feeling. Her strokes caused me to relax and breathe contentedly, as her body's hormones flooded my brain even more than usual.
Then, the baby kicked inside of me.
"Oh! I felt a kick!" Squealed Mary, taking her hand away for a second before continuing again. I felt another kick. And another. It was as if the baby knew there
was someone hovering over it, examining it.
"Rambunctious little baby, huh?" Remarked Josh. "Mind if I give it a test?"
Then, two sets of hands were pressed against my belly. My mind was screaming out how uncomfortable this was, but my body -- Mary's body -- basked in the
attention it was receiving. I sighed.
"Okay, Michael! You should tell us ASAP what the gender of our baby is." Instructed Mary, taking her hand away and getting up. "Thanks again for the drinks,
Lindsey. Too bad we couldn't catch Jonathan before he got home, but Josh and I are going out tonight."
"Oh, is it a special occasion tonight?" Asked Mom, gathering the drinks and getting ready to set them away. The four of us got up, Josh offering me help but
I assured him I was fine.
"Yeah, tonight is the two-year anniversary of our marriage." Mentioned Josh, clasping hands with his wife.
"Congratulations!" Mom cheered, then got a knowing look on her face. "Should we leave you two... alone... for the evening?"
Mary laughed, staring at face-level with her husband and running her hand over his chest. "I think that would be best, Lindsey. There's no better time to
reaffirm our vows to each other, you know!" They all laughed. That was when I noticed Mary's shorts tenting themselves outward noticeably. She shifted her
stance, but it was no use. Well, that was about the most awkward thing I've seen so far. And again, nobody but me seemed to notice.
"Come on then, honey. We've bothered Michael and Lindsey enough for today." Josh kissed his wife on the cheek. They turned around to walk back home,
Josh's hands roaming ever too close to Mary's boyish waist and butt for my liking. I knew exactly what they would be doing later tonight,
and the worst part was there was no way I could stop it!
What happens next?
