In a darkened bedroom a hand reached to silence the phone from which the alarm was coming. Slowly the person that the hand belonged to opened their eyes to take in their sourndings. It to Lonna Tran a few minutes to realize where she was, as she did the events of the day before came back to the front of her head once again.

Lonna had spent surprisingly well in her new bedroom. It was hers for the time being anyway. She looked at the phone sitting on the dressing table beside the bed in which she lay. It showed the time to be 7. am, A good hour later than she usually got up. She didn’t worry too much as she had spent the night at the Rodriguezs’ she was closer to the school than she usually was so it would not take her as long to get there. Still even knowing that she needed to get up and get a shower before getting dressed. She used the shower as most people did at that time of day to fully wake up and plan their day.

“Lonna, breakfast is ready.” Came the voice from downstairs. “Be right there Mom,” Lonna replied. Then she realized what she had said. She had called Ms Rodriguez Mom. Why had she done that she was not her mom she was Lauren’s and not hers. She did not have time to worry about it at the moment she needed to get ready for the day ahead. She walked over to Laurens’ closet and set about completing the task that she had started the evening before. However she could find nothing remotely close to her old-style choices, so she picked out the outfit that least offended her.

When she had finished getting dressed she looked in the mirror in front of her. The image that was presented in the reflection of a woman who was showcasing a casual yet stylish ensemble. She had picked out a white sweater that exuded a cozy and comfortable vibe, perfectly complementing her blue jeans. The jeans, adhered to the school's casual dress code. They had long ago given up on getting the students to wear a uniform after several protests against one. Lonnas’ attire was meticulously chosen to blend both the elements of casual wear with a touch of elegance. Although the woman's footwear could not be seen in the mirror, the boots she wore continued the overall vibe and complemented the rest of the outfit perfectly.

Yesterday when Lonna had been a teacher at the school and not a student she had taken a great deal of care of what she wore. So that she gave off an air of authority. This meant that anyone who came across her be it a student or teacher knew not to mess with her. Her stance and attire reflected confidence and a relaxed demeanour, not quite what she was going for but she could work with it. She turned away from the mirror and headed down to get her breakfast, as she started towards the kitchen.

She sat with her new Mom eating a bowl of cereal rather than her usual slice of toast and coffee was not something she worried about. She could sort any extra weight she put on during this whatever it was could be worked off later as long as she didn’t put on too much. She finished breakfast headed to the hall and grabbed the book bag that she had left there the night before. Mrs Rodriguez had by this time gone back upstairs to start getting herself ready for her day. She had long ago given up on trying to talk to her daughter first thing in the morning especially if she wanted to keep her head attached that was.

Lonna wanted to be alone with her thoughts this morning she had tried the night before to continue her research on the stone that was at the root of all of this. She had found one or two things online but not much more than what Lauren had told the afternoon before. She needed to speak to Lauren to see if she had, had better luck. Most of all she wanted to find out how the meeting with her aunt had gone. She would ask when she saw her at school.
