Karyn gripped the stone tightly as she made her next wish "Men will now be required to speak only in soft, feminine tones. They are forbidden from speaking deeply or yelling, ensuring their voices reflect their new, subservient roles."
A small flash, and the changes immediately began to take effect. Outside, Zoe (now instantly aware of the new law) desperately tried to get her brother to quieten down.
"Quiet Jon! Do you want to get us both busted? I'm legally responsible for you now, and I expect you to behave accordingly. Don't make me put a MEOW collar on you!" threatened Zoe, but her warning fell on deaf ears.
"The what-collar!? yelled Jon (seemingly unaware of the new wish) as his frustration boiled over, and his barking voice echoed down the street.
Before Zoe could explain, the sound of authoritative boots cam clicking. Two leather-clad officers from the all-women police force, their presence as commanding as ever, suddenly appeared at their doorstep. Their eyes locked onto Jon, their expressions a mix of disapproval and resolve.
"We've received complaints about a male not adhering to the new voice modulation laws," one officer stated, her voice firm and commanding. "It's imperative for all men to comply with the decree for a harmonious society. Non-compliance will not be tolerated."
"I'm sorry, officers. I'll make him comply, I promise" pleaded Zoe in a surprise last-ditch effort to help her brother but the officers simply pushed her aside.
Within moments, the blonde police officers had quickly manhandled him and efficiently began fitting the cold metal frame around his throat.
As the new MEOW collar was secured around Jon's neck, he immediately felt aware of a new constriction around his vocal cords.
"Help" he cried, only to hear the most soft and unmistakably feminine squeal he'd ever heard.
The collar, though not painful, enforced a vocal range that made his speech sound not just feminine but delicately girly, as if he were a caricature of femininity itself.
Watching on, Zoe couldn't suppress a burst of laughter. "Oh, Jon," she managed between giggles, "you sound...incredible." she laughed, her own voice now sounding deep and masculine in comparison. The embarrassment Jon felt was palpable.
