"I wish those two would get severely punished for this. None of this 'slapping their hands and saying they're sorry' crap."
And thus - thanks to the stone she'd been holding - Ms. Johnson's wish come true.
The next day, Ms. Johnson was leading her morning girls through their usual exercises, when she overheard three of them talking about Jon and Sarah - the two students who she'd caught fighting.
"What are you three whispering about?" she demanded, noting that they were three of her biggest problems : "Ethel", "Vera" and "Susan".
Ethel was the fattest girl in school, and seemed obstinately proud of that fact. She was often excused from Gym class, but Ms. Johnson didn't feel like letting the letting her off so easy today. The 500+lb girl waddled slowly and ponderously around the track, and sweated great, dark patches beneath both arms.
Vera, on the other hand, was a pimply girl with limp, greasy hair, thick-lensed glasses and a mouth full of crooked, brace-armored teeth, while Susan was known for her buck teeth and overbite (which gave her a watery lisp), a great cloud of frizzy, orange hair and huge feet, which required special, orthopedic shoes.
The three girls looked-up at Ms. Johnson - a woman who had no idea that the stone she'd held was a wishing stone, nor that all three girls had been changed by it's magic - and Susan lisped "Sharah and Jon were bof arreshted today! It'sh sho...sho terrible!"
"Arrested? Arrested for what?"
Vera squinted through her thick glasses and said "Jon was arrested for assaulting Sarah, and Sarah was arrested for offering sex to a couple of undercover Police! They've both been sent to jail!"
Ethel sighed and rolled her eyes. "The Judge said he was rushing them both through the courts, because just slapping their hands and making them say they're sorry would send the wrong message to the 'Criminal Element' of the school. It's blatantly unfair, but nobody's willing to stand-up to him."
Ms. Johnson dismissed the three pathetic girls, puzzling over the similarity of the judges statement, and her own wish the previous day.
That was when she heard one of the girls say something just before passing out of earshot.
"Someone else must have found the wishing stone..." Vera whined.
Ethel said something in reply, but Ms. Johnson didn't hear.
