It took 12 more minutes, but the area in front of the building was cleared. There was no way that they would able to send reinforcements at that level for a bit. We went inside the building. It was not hard to find their leader. Their lobby was not that ornate. Once we made the full situation report to her, she was ready to come along. If she did not come with us, we would need to kidnap her. She left the vice leader of Sonic Clan in command of the transmission hub building. We all rushed out of the building and made our way to the van. The getaway driver revved the engines to get ready to go. I was happy to get out of here. That was when it was hit with another large tank shell. Because Paul and Brett were not inside, it did not have the protection that it had in coming here. The whole thing exploded. I covered my eyes from the bright flash that it made. "Damn it!" Brett snapped. "Fuck!" Paul screamed. That stupid green van was our ride out of here. We had to figure it out quickly. The coalition depended on it. The tank was still a ways off, but it was coming closer. I looked at Brett. "Can you fly her?"
He just looked at me. Then he smiled. "That's a good idea. I just have to make it back to the hangar with her alive enough to give the command. Healing her can wait." he said. He then grabbed the reluctant leader. She looked like she was going to hate this as she was put into a princess carry. And hate us for it as they left the ground. It was a good plan. He was a Devil. He was not going to get shot down or caught by any NPC goons. Players might be able to report him in he did anything funny. As long as he made a straight shot back to Dwan Town, it should be fine. Her discomfort did not matter to us right now. When they were gone, I looked over at the others next to me. "Our mission is over. We got the coalition leader to the hangar safely. All we need is to lay low for a bit and escape. We can make it back to our clan building later." I told them. The 4 of us ran down the block and ducked into an alley. I saw that there was an inn across the street. Once I pointed it out, we made our way over there. Paul gave the attendant money and bought a pair of rooms. Paul and I shared a room. It was small.
Staying there for a few days was easy for us. Players did not need to eat or sleep. All PEA units could charge with sunlight. Our cyborg companions just had to stick their heads out the window for a bit each day. The heat was off of us and we could finally leave the ratty motel. Paul was able to spawn in a simple tan sedan. The female PEA unit drove us home slowly. She followed all the rules of the road to ensure we did not get noticed by the authorities. It was a long drive, but worth it. I gave the cyborgs names to be in the clan. The female was now Wheelz. The male was named Turret. Paul cracked a grin at their names. The cyborgs were pleased they were part of the clan now. They had more than earned it. Like I had promised, I instantly promoted them to officers as well. Wheelz was the Transportation Officer. She was tasked with procuring vehicles and doing the getaway driving for the big missions. Turret was the Weaponry Officer. It was now his job to ensure all our members taking jobs had the proper loadout for their job. It cut down on my tasks as clan engineer. I just had to stock them.
