Now we needed to get ready. "Caleb. You are going to use your rocket to go from your cockpit to theirs. Once inside, you are to deploy the energy generator and assist a vulnerable 05 in rebooting. Caleb, you are the hero of the coalition. Good luck." I said. He looked shocked and his armor plating poke out a bit. He calmed himself and said "...Understood. For the coalition." Charlie then regained contact with 05-010. He explained what was needed for the mission. "Understood. I will open up the cockpit on your mark." 05-010 said weakly. Charlie counted down for Caleb. Once he opened the cockpit, Caleb was sucked into the vacuum of space. The others were tightly locked into place, so they were fine. Caleb tumbled through space a for a bit before he could get his bearings. At that point, he engaged his rocket. His nanites moved to form the lotus on his back. We did not have a very good angle on him. Caleb flew towards the ally XX-frame. 05-010 opened his cockpit as Caleb approached. Caleb had his engine work overtime to fight the vacuum until the cockpit closed again. He had done it.
Caleb took out one of the large energy generator and turned it one. The whole cockpit was bathed in a pulsing bright yellow light. While we were in the Red Grind, I had given all 5 of our pilots 3 large energy generators. They were all going to be up there in space for quite some time. We needed at least 2 more XX-frames to join them before we could open a stable portal. 05-010 began to feel better almost immediately. He could finally heal the last bits of damage from the huge explosion. It lasted for a good 15 minutes and they were all at full energy at the end. He and Caleb both smiled as they basked in the warm glow together. Magnetic 05 was still unresponsive. It was not looking too good. "AEP Cognitive Damage.... 62%. Reboot Necessary." came a voice from his body. He must have been way more damaged than 05-010 initially thought he was. I sure hoped that Magnetic 05 could pull through all this. "AEP Organ Critical Damage.... 87%.... Purging Organ." 05 said. He was still out of it. The now exposed organ was pushed further out until it fell off to the side. It was a big piece of scrap.
Watching from the viewing theatres were all that we could do. I then watched as the large chest cavity closed up around it. "Booting... 41%" he said. We all had to wait 11 minutes before he began to blink his eyes. He looked at the watchful Caleb and did a double take in surprise. Magnetic 05 had waken up. That was cause for raucous applause. I pulled Skylar in a hug. He was surprised before patting me on the head, saying "There there Brianne. It's all okay. Mission Accomplished." I was not the only one hugging. Brett and Paul did it too before Brett got on the intercom and confirmed it for Charlie and Cameron. Magnetic 05 suffered a massive drop in paracapacity. It went from 100 down to 79. It could not fill the ring 4 times. I thought that it was a huge shame. Magnetic 05 strained and shifted on his platform, but could not raise pass that. He needed to get to 81 to get back in optimal range. It was stuck on high. That was bad for someone who built the XX-frame all for their own. Whatever his injury, I bet that Magnetic 05 would need to go to an AEP Lab to fix it. He was stuck there for now.
