Now they were going to get married. I was not against attending the ceremony. Weddings could be cool. This relationship was keeping Magnetic 04 off of my back. They had no clue what the hell they were doing though. This was clear to me as soon as I agreed to come. Messages flooded my inbox for help. First off, Ursula did not live in the jurisdiction of the Magnetic transmission hub. The hub had to buy a big 3 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom house for her before she would agree to move inside its sphere of influence. She had been living in a studio apartment in a urban neighborhood. She could handle herself and bills. She was also not in there too much due to the traveling required by her job. I could respect the hustle that she had. She went from living alone a studio apartment to having a big house with a shapeshifting cyborg husband that could fuck her right and actually take care of her and the child that they would be having together. The guest list for the ceremony was massive. All members of the coalition were invited. So were all Ursula's friends and family. Brothers and sisters in arms too.
It was certainly shaping up to be a humongous affair. She wanted it to be in a church, but there were none that could fit that many people. Religious institutions were very rare in this futuristic cyberpunk setting. Seating capacity aside, the clergy would not allow humans to marry cyborgs. I had a solution that could. I spoke to Paul and Brett about it. We still had an apartment building with religious people devoted to the Church of the Sky. The whole point of coming to this continent was to spread the religion and get some colonies here. Aside from the big cybernetic monsters, there was tons of free real estate out in the desert. The Lightning transmission hub was currently in the Advocate faction, so the random cyborg would not be hostile to them. This would kill 2 birds with one stone. We traveled out into the desert along the singular road for about 35 minutes before pulled off the road to look around. The Devils spawned in a massive basilica. It looked amazing. Now the monks and paladins we had could have something to do other than stay in the apartments or as our dispatchers in the cab depot.
Adding in the trees and green grass was a great touch in my opinion. It looked like it was truly a blessed location. An oasis or sorts in the desert. The statue for the shrine was more or less of what we knew the god of the sky to look like. Artistic license covered up the discrepancies. When we went back to tell everyone about it. They were all extremely excited. This is what they had been praying for since we had arrived. Most of them had given up all hope. We bussed them to the church. They had the supplies among them to consecrate the church. This was now an official church and shrine of the Church of the Sky on this continent. Now we had to convince them of the whole "cyborgs should be able to join" thing. That took a lot of debate. They were split down the middle and it did not seem like anyone wanted to budge on it. We decided to leave it with a compromise on the issue. Cyborgs could come and join as members, but individual clergy members did not have to preform any rites for them if they did not want to do that. Every clergy member was fine with that. We were fine with it too.
