"How about three volunteers this time?" Fred asked the crowd.
At first, people thought it was kind of funny to see Jon and Trevor acting like a couple of ditzy girls, and maybe fascinated to see Sarah turn into a nerdy boy, but now they were starting to get scared. More volunteers meant that Fred was going to change more people, kind of against their will, actually (so not exactly "volunteers" at all). Barely anyone in the audience wanted that. But that didn't stop Fred from picking someone.
"Okay, how about you, you, aaaand ... you," Fred said, pointing to specific people in the crowd. And as reluctant as these people were to participating in this "magic show", they were compelled to come up to the stage anyway.
