Looking up from his breakfast muffin, Jon looked at Nadine's mother (who he was starting to think of as his own, even though he still remembered the original reality) and decided to test something out. "Mom?"
"Yes, dear?" she asked, looking at him.
"Do you ... notice anything odd about me?" he asked.
She looked him over. "No. Should I? Is something wrong?"
"What do you see when you look at me?" he asked.
She smiled. "My beautiful daughter."
"You don't think it's weird that my name is 'Jon'?"
Her smile turned to confusion. "What do you mean?"
"Well, 'Jon' is a boy's name, right?" he asked her.
Now her look changed from confused to dumbfounded. It seemed that his question was too contradicting for her to give an answer.
"Uh, don't worry about it, Mom. It's not really important. I think 'Jon' is a pretty name," he said, hoping that would get rid of her confusion. It did, fortunately. She went back to eating her breakfast, but Jon just had to wonder if maybe she was still thinking about it at the back of her mind.
