The first time into the water was fun and also confusing at the same time -- it felt good to be in the water, yet my human side found being an otter confusing. Both Karyn and I splashed around in the water, and splashed each other, for a while until we got more used to being otters. After a while we managed to get the hang of things and started swimming out from around the boat, exploring the lagoon.
I saw several fish swimming about -- catching was easier said than done, though! I still had not mastered the form well enough to quite manage it on the first few tries. Some of the plants growing in the lagoon were good to nibble on, though, as I took a break from chasing fish. I couldn't see Karyn any more, but I could hear her splashing around somewhere.
The feel of water rushing through my fur was pretty fun. I practiced a while seeing how fast through the water I could make myself go, working on my speed, then tried chasing fish again. This time I had better luck and caught one. Unfortunately it thrashed around so much that I had to let it go -- just a bit larger than I could handle just yet. The second fish I failed to catch, but I finally succeeded on the third.
It wriggled and flopped as I swam back up onto the land with it. Being on land as an otter was different from swimming -- I waddled further away from the water with my fish. Right before I started to eat it the thought struck me that perhaps I ought to be more concerned about eating a raw fish! It was certainly not something I had done before! I was hungry, though, and my body was strongly suggesting to me that the fish was a worthwhile lunch.
While I was eating it, I watched Karyn waddle up towards me and my lunch. I scooted to one side as I ate and let her nibble on the tail. It took me a couple seconds to realize something while distracted by eating -- this otter wasn't Karyn!
