Suddenly I was elsewhere. I could feel sand underfoot and a gentle breeze on my face; but it was too dark to see anything.
After a moment of near panic I remembered the rock. "I wish there was a lit lantern on a table five feet in front of me."
I blinked from more than the usual reaction to the rock's magic as the light hit my eyes. But the lantern allowed me to see that I was standing on a beach with the weeds from Karyn's yard scattered over the sand. I could hear a low roar of surf in the distance; along with a few unidentifiable animal sounds.
It wasn't til I looked up that I realized how far from home I really was. TWO crescent moons were visible overhead; and a third near the horizon.
Wouldn't this be a wonderful place for a picnic? I thought.
