"You see, since the dawn of creation a higher world of forms, of concepts and all things have existed. Some might think of these forms as gods, others might philosophize about them as the ultimate origin of all things, the highest constructs of pure reality if you will. Whatever the case, a highly sophisticated and god like being once was given the task of translating these forms into the reality that you and I know. It did a good job- for the most part. But it's not really a very free willed being, like me and you are. Since this entity exists more like a computer, unquestioning and uncritical sometimes it can mess up, make bumps in it's operating and assign the wrong forms to reality. In your case, it set "Human nature" or perhaps "Pure idealization" to, what else, you. Why you specifically, I cannot say. Maybe you were born with incredibly high Mana portions, or perhaps you were cached to the closest thing to an "Ideal human" in a very broad sense. Whatever the case may be, it's effect seems to be that all humankind thinks of you in terms of pure desire and wishes to correct this error by becoming you, even at the expense of themselves."
The girl gave him a look as if she'd just been given a lecture on Crystal Energy doctrine from a Scientologist.
"O-okay than. So what are we going to do about it? Magic the fix-up to the way things should be?" She asked.
"Not quite. I don't haven nearly enough power to fix the inherent flaws and mistakes in the Demiurge's design, so we cannot fix it." He said with a sad infliction.
"No? Well just great. Than what the hell are we supposed to do."
"It's simple. If we cannot fix reality, we just fix 'You'!" The wizardly man declared.
