The classes group activity luckily was a simple one. Measuring angles and mathematical functions while doing calculations on a page over common objects. The actual labor of the activity wasn't tremendously , and Katie was used to taking a back seat during these sorts of projects so keeping away was relatively easy.
The only slight brush with what she feared risking most was when she had to hold one half of a ruler and contribute somehow. She kept a close distance from the others and concentrated hard to ignore and seal her thoughts of anyone else. This wasn't unnoticed, but since it was her the others didn't consider it especially significant or worth caring about. Class swiftly neared it's end, and she sighed in relief. All she had to do was sign her name on the paper and the professor said she'd be able to leave.
Reaching in to record her signature, she was interrupted physically by another dorky faced kid with oval glasses and a plain white T-shirt, much to her annoyance.
"Woops, were you going to go first? Well hurry up sheila." Mel quipped snootily.
Katie's nostrils flared with hostility.
