Maron took a massive bite out of a hard grain energy bar, to the slight reluctance of Mel. He'd brought a small notepad, already jotting down the basic summary of her abilities. The two discussed it briefly while waiting in a coffee shop, being the only two customers other than a wreck of a man filing through papers and a pile of briefcases.

"Pretty sure he's a bookie. Gotta be a bookie." Mel remarked.

Maron snickered. "Yep, won't argue that. He better be careful or his 'fate' will be under a bridge soon enough."

"More coffee on the house you two? It's not often we get kids coming in this late afterall." The young waitress said, peppy and astute to their leisure. Maron agreed, and watched her carefully skip back and start to brew a new cup. The two observed the investment she took in her job, in sharp contrast with her other co-worker who sat by the corner behind the counter and texted on her cell-phone.

"Drink up, and feel free to hang up as much as you like. I have to get up early to open shop anyway so I figure I might as well stay in and keep the place running overnight." The waitress, Jenny as they'd heard explained. She had neat brunette hair, with finely worn black stockings, a cute blouse with her workers apron overtop and a clean pretty face, in a natural motherly way almost. A bun sat atop her head holding her hair back. Compared to the pinked out floozie of a dame texting with her curly hair flowing about, pouting her glossy lips the waitress might as well be a model employee. She contently made small talk with the two teens, who carefully paid attention to her every word.

"Really, a nursing Grad in the works? And in only a few months you'll be moving out of your boyfriends place too. That's very, good for you I reckon." Maron said suggestively. She crossed eyes with Mel, who was thinking similar thoughts, giving a light "Hmmhm."

"Oh, I try not to flatter myself too much. I just believe in the principle that good things come to those who wait. So as long as I work hard, keep my chin up and stick it out, everything will go my way in time." Jenny stated while washing the counter with a towel and spraybottle.

"I'm sure that's true in some cases. How about, texty over there, aye?" Maron asked.

"Pfft, Candice? She's a high-school dropout from what I hear. All sass but no smarts. The only way she even got this job is because she's dating the Owner's son."

Mel gave Maron one more intentional look, and she grinned. "Well than, think we could ask a favor or two?"
