Dune sat in his lavish sandy chair. The eons of had ticked by uneventfully and he/it'd watch countless races, mortals, and beings go by with their lifetimes, unaffected or ever noticed by his powerful gaze. He'd conquered his world, sought the visionaries of others, and become near Omnipotent the process, but now faces his greatest threat to an overlord's conquest of all: Boredom.
With a brief sigh, he flipped his mirror-portal through countless dimensions, looking for a realm that amused him. Stopping at some with strange mammaloid creatures in some sort of, conditioning or rearing process, they walked back and forth between assigned stations, gathering new items and nutrients along the corridors, being taught by instructors. This was mildly amusing to Dune, tickling his clawed fingertips across his carapace cheeks.
As he watched, he noticed something interesting. Even within these nearly-identical (His race being different enough that all humans looked like clones essentially, unable to tell them apart), very like minded creatures went about the same droll, boring routine each and every single day, some showed very small signs of difference. A few were more keen onto socializing with others. Some thought of themselves, while others did little or only feigned it. The differences in intelligence and capability were clear at times, but at others measure of 'aptitude' were difficult to assess.
Seeing the differences and confusing behavior in these, 'humans' as they were called, Dune decided to test them. Letting out a series of spheres into their earthly realm, he'd give them a little test, and the means to carry it out. It was time to see what made Homo Sapiens truly unique.
