After they pulled up, Megan reached into the seat behind her and hoisted Kimberly's purse onto her shoulder. She slipped out of the car, rifling through it for the keys.
"Megan!" Kimberly called, getting out.
"Yes, Mommy?" Megan said.
Kimberly caught up with her. "Tomorrow I have a meeting and have to stay late."
"Why don't you ask Alexis to wait for you?" Megan said, unlocking the front door.
"Yeah, well..." she turned toward Alexis, who was helping Scott out of the car. "Maybe," she said.
"Good. That's settled," Megan said. "We all have homework to do now. And Alexis will probably like help doing the laundry."
"So...tell your friends they'll have to text someone else till you are done," Alexis said, coming within earshot.
"I can text in between papers," Kimberly protested.
But the two other females both shook their head at that. Kimberly headed up to the master bedroom. The whole family was against her.
