The concept of being a superhero always came with the requisite of a kick-ass costume, a thought that hadn't escaped Jon. The prospect was exciting and daunting. Making use of his super abilities came with responsibility and the added stress of keeping his civilian identity hidden. After all, a teenager battling supervillains was hardly the norm.
Jon's initial attempts to create a costume were, well, less than stellar. He had grand ideas, but execution was a different beast. His initial designs were too flashy, too bright, and too noticeable. He realized that he didn't want to be the center of attention, but a shadowy savior swooping in to save the day.
His mask was a no-brainer — it had to reveal his magic eyes while hiding everything else. Those swirling orbs were not just his signature but also his greatest weapon, entrancing anyone who dared to lock gaze with him. However, just like in his regular life, he had no desire to be mesmerizing everyone who happened to look at him, so he would have mirrored goggles. They would hide his hypnotic eyes until the right moment when he flipped them up.
Jon made a trip to the local thrift store, his eyes scanning the racks for clothing that would work for his costume. Dark colors were his friend, and he needed something practical. He found a heavy, padded coat perfect for the chilly nights of Lake Pointe, and perhaps might offer some protection if he got into a physical fight. A pair of dark, sturdy pants, and some robust boots ideal for running and possibly kicking some villainous butts.
To conceal his face and protect it from the elements, he selected a thick, full-head ski-mask with eye-holes, perfect for hiding his face while leaving his magic eyes exposed. His hands would be protected by a pair of dark gloves, flexible yet firm. Added bonus, he wouldn't be leaving behind fingerprints. Not all of law enforcement tolerated masked vigilantes.
With every piece of clothing, Jon's superhero persona started to take shape. The result was an ensemble that was dark, understated, and practical — nothing flashy, just pure functionality with an air of mystery. The kind of outfit that would make people realize he was a proper costumed adventurer.
He spent more than a bit of time watching cosplay tutorials online, and soon he had his collection assembled from thrift-store castoffs transformed into something akin to a proper superheroing outfit.
Armed with his new costume, Jon felt ready. As he looked at himself in the mirror, he could almost forget the high school student behind the mask. He was a superhero now, ready to right wrongs and bring justice. But most importantly, he was prepared to confront Abigail Wilson and expose her true face to the world.
Was "Insight" ready to go out and face the supervillainess he'd soon know as Swaperella?
