Buffy lay on her bed contemplating the rock she held. It was pretty, if a little dull. She was glad her daddy had found it for her - maybe she'd get it mounted in a pendant or something.
Buffy's happiness was short-lived though. Her mom had put her foot down - no way was she going to allow her to go partying with Jamie and Sarah and Jenny and the other girls. She'd made her come home right after the game.
"This majorly sucks!" she pouted. "I wish mom would, like, let me go out with my friends!"
To her surprise, the rock suddenly glowed. Without realizing it, she glanced away. _Huh. That was weird," she thought.
Just then, there was a knock on her door. "Beverly darling," came her mother's voice, "Can I come in?"
"Sure," she said, feeling a bit dejected.
Lorraine entered the room with a smile. "Sweetie, I've thought about it - it's really not fair to keep you at home while your cheerleader friends are out."
"Really?!? You mean it?!?"
She nodded. "Sarah McMilan just called - she and Jenny and Regina are going to swing by here and pick you up. Just be careful, okay?"
"Sure thing, mom! Wow, thankyouthankyouthankyou!"
Buffy had just enough time to throw on a top and miniskirt before she heard the horn honk. Giddily, she grabbed her purse and, absently sticking the stone inside, rushed down the stairs.
"Bye daddy, mom said I could out now, I love you, thanks for the pretty rock, bye!"
"Biff - uh, Beverly! Buffy!! Aw hell!" Gary cursed. He'd have to sneak into her room and hope she left the rock there!
"Hey you guys! It's, like, so cool and stuff that mom let me out!" Buffy squealed, sliding in to the back of Sarah's car next to Jenny.
"Yah! It's so great you can come," Jenny enthused, giving her fellow cheerleader a hug.
"So, like, are we still going to the same place?" Buffy asked.
"Absolutely, girls!" Sarah proclaimed as she drove away. "Next stop..."
