A Classic Sit Down

To be honest, I actually almost forgot about them when they got back to me 2 days later. They had gotten 3 of the required targets to come meet with pair at the family restaurant the next day. I told them that I would be there. It made them smile and high five each other. It was a start. Those results were really far from the 9 total targets in the binder, but it would have to do for now. The others on the list were probably just really cautious people. Their meeting might change things. Hopefully it went well. I handed them both some handguns that shot radioactive bullets. "Take these. I do actually want you to be safe. If things are going south and it seems you're going to be arrested, don't be afraid to blast your way out of there. They were marked for death by Cold Clan anyway." I said quietly. They took them from me silently and walked off to prepare things. The PEA units of the clan were a very angry bunch. They felt robbed of a big mission that was assigned to them. The only thing that I could now do was to promise to take them somewhere with lots of missions when the smoke cleared.

I went to the restaurant ahead of everyone. There was no need to set off alarm bells in people's heads. With my money, I was able to reserve a table 5 off from where the indie PEA units were going to be sitting. Before I left, I decided to give them names. It was important to me. They seemed really excited. The one that attacked Skylar said "We already came up with names." I raised an eyebrow. "Really? That's great. What do I call you?" I asked them. The attacker said "I am Sky and he is Stretch." I did not mind. I called my officer Skylar that because he loved his hoodies. "Great. Those were very creative, and I bet you took lots of time thinking about it." I praised. It was genuine. Stretch shook his head. "No. We just decided to call ourselves something we liked. It did not take long." he corrected me. I shrugged. "That might be even more wonderful. Either way, Sky. Stretch. I leave this mission up to you. Convince them to leave this area alone. Come back here in 1 piece." "Then we get our own clan?" Sky asked. I nodded. I then pulled out 2 PEA sexual upgrades. "All yours." I said.

Now in the restaurant, I ordered a standard meal of chicken wings and french fries. I also had the blueberry lemonade this time. I did not need to eat, but this was a rare exception. I began gnawing slowly at the chicken. Stretch and Sky entered first. I gave them money for a table. They ordered a table for 5 and sat there. Half an hour passed before the first target came in. He sat at the table and simply stared at them. 10 minutes went by until the other targets came in together. I had read in the binder that they were cousins that were close friends. The woman asked where the table was, and she and her male cousin were led to the others. Once they had been seated for 5 minutes a waiter came to them. Stretch and Sky ordered a salad. The others began to order some appetizers as well. I was too far to hear the conversation, but they were talking. The PEA units picked at the food. They did not need to eat, so doing so was foreign to them. The targets were watching them for the smallest signs of hostility, but I had told them what the point of this mission was. The targets talked and ate.

At some point, the PEA units got up and came to me. I looked at them in confusion but looked down at my food. When they got to me, I was annoyed. "What the fuck are you doing!? You're on a mission!" I hissed. Sky was also upset. "No shit! They already made you. You keep looking over at us like a fucking newbie." I blinked. I was the one ruining it for them. "What's going on? Did you get them to back off?" I asked. Stretch said "They want to speak to you." I rolled my eyes. "Fine. Send them over." I told them. They went over and sat down with me. "So you are the one we keep hearing rumors about. The human clan engineer." one of the men said. I nodded. The one that I was looking at was named. Terrance Grouch. "Yeah. I'm the leader of one the local PEP unit clans. There are 3 in this town." They blinked. "3? That's a lot for a small town." Nancy Henrys said. Her cousin, Marion Isle said that "Your friends said the explosion was due to the bomb placed in a Toxic Clan ...AEP unit. Whatever that means." I smiled and calmly said "I can explain everything here." They all looked at me.
