Meanwhile, Sarah started to head home. Normally she drove to school and back but today had been such a nice day that she had felt like walking and so Sarah walked home.

On the way, she spotted a mother and her child. The boy was happily running along while the mother followed behind a bit more slowly. Sarah watched the boy and smiled for a moment, then she shook her head, surprised that she actually felt happy watching the boy.

As they got closer, Sarah heard the mother call out “Slow down honey! Mommy can’t keep up with you!”

The boy turned to look at his mother and as he did so, he bumped into Sarah and fell down.

“Watch out kiddo.” Sarah said with a little laugh. She bent down to see if the boy was alright. It turned out that he had grazed his knee and he was crying. His mother eventually caught up with them. She seemed to be in no rush.

"Oh Stop it, you big baby... it's just a scratch." She said sound rather annoyed. Sarah frowned.

"Excuse me!" She said, standing up. "Your son is clearly hurt and that's what you have to say?" Sarah wasn't sure that she liked the idea of this woman being the boy's mother.

Sarah looked down at the boy who was still crying and bent back down.

"Don't worry honey." She said softly, placing a hand on the boy's shoulders. "Sarah'll make it better."

She reached into her bag and got out one of the band-aids that she had found in there earlier. She took it out and placed over the boy’s knee. She even kissed the bruise before she put it on.

“Is that better?” Sarah asked softly, with a warm smile on her face. The boy nodded giving her a weak smile. Sarah helped him back up.

Well, thanks. I guess." The woman said matter of factly.

“No problem.” Sarah replied cheerily as she finally got a good look at the woman. It was only then that she realised what the woman was wearing.
