“Jon! What are you doing in Daddy’s office?” Jon heard Mikey ask him angrily. Jon grimaced and braced himself as he put the phone down and turned around.
Sure enough, Mikey was standing in the doorway with his hands on his hips, looking very much like an angry mother, except that he wasn’t. He was a 10-year-old boy wearing a white long-sleeved chiffon blouse which had diamonds embroidered around the neck. He also wore a red skirt that went down to his knees and he wore a pair of white 3-inch heels on his feet.
All of this, of course, was somehow tailored to fit the small boy and he didn’t appear to find anything wrong with what he was wearing. What he did find wrong though, was the fact that someone, who he thought was his daughter, was in his husband’s office.
“I was calling Karyn,” Jon told Mikey.
“Who’s Karyn?” Mikey asked. It was obvious that he had never heard of Jon’s friend, despite the fact that Karyn hung out at Jon’s house all the time.
“She’s my friend.” Jon started but then he paused. “From school.” He lied.
Mikey seemed to relax a little.
“Well then, honey. You should have asked.” He said coming into the room smiling sweetly at Jon. The look coming from Mikey’s face was a little creepy. “You could have used the phone downstairs, you know that Daddy doesn’t like you being in here.”
With that, Mikey took Jon’s hand and led him out of the room.
