After struggling with her decision for a few moments Linda finally let out a sigh "...I would like your help to get divorce with Adam." she said to her sister softly, still enjoying a hug. "He has been drinking a lot and has been cold and I can't even remember the last time we went out together for something. He does not seem to care about me anymore... Not to even mention the cruel things he said to Jennifer..." It was not hard for Ember to hear the heartbreak in her sister's voice. She gently stroke Linda's hair, offering support "Okay sister, I will make a call to my lawyers. They will fax me all the documents asap." she said gently "I think you are doing a right thing. Adam was nothing but cruel to poor Jennifer from what you told me and he is obviously bad influence on Zoe... I think you should move out with children today. You can live in my new house for as long as you want. I would enjoy the company." she said gently.
Linda thought it over for a moment and nodded "I agree. Thank you for the help, Ember. You are godsend. It is a really nice coincidence that you happened to be moving in now." she said. Ember smiled a bit "It is, isn't it? Need help packing?" Linda shook her head "Will pack bit later. I would first like to take my children from school and explain things to them. Jennifer and Jacob should be fine, but Zoe..." Ember nodded "Fair enough. And yes, I think we should pick up Zoe first and maybe take time to calmly talk to her by ourselves. I rented out a car, I could drive us to her school?" she offered. Linda nodded "That sound perfect. Let me grab a few things and change clothes and then we can go." Ember nodded "Fair enough. I will go outside for a bit and make a few calls. Doubt you want to be in earshot of me discussing some boring details with lawyers." she said and both of them got up from the couch. Ember's eyes trailed her sisters form for a few moments as she went upstairs and then she walked outside, taking out her smartphone with smirk on her face.
She took only few moments to call her lawyer and asking her to arrange and send the documents needed for divorce. She then quickly called another number, waiting for a few moments as a gruff voice answered her call at the other end. "Hello, Vincent. This is Ember Webster. I have a job for you." she pauses for a moment, smirking into the phone "I want you to investigate one Adam Madison..."
Meanwhile at Buxton Highschool
Athena was currently performing the outgoing task her mistress gave her - hanging out with and observing one Zoe Madison. Currently both of them were having their free period and were relaxing at school yard. Well, at least Athena was trying to relax. Zoe was actually ranting. Athena paid close attention to everything her friend was saying, filing away the important details to later report to her mistress. To sum it up Zoe's rant was bunch of complaining and cursing about her sister Jennifer.
So far Zoe seemed to simply blame all of the family problems on her sister. According to her if Jennifer 'was not such a freak' her parents would get along better and would not argue or be so cold to each other. She said she heard quite a few of said arguments because her room was right next to their. She was also sure that because Jennifer was lesbian her father started to have drinking problem. Zoe actually found some alcohol stashed away in the corner of the attic and she quickly put things together. Even more she blamed her sister for the fact that mother was not paying attention to her, for not having a lot of friends because no-one wanted to be friends with freak's sister and for a lot of other things. Then Zoe started retelling that she was having nightmares Athena snapped into more attention "Nightmares? What kind of nightmares?" she asked Zoe.
Zoe frowned a bit "Does it matter? Honestly I can't remember them well. I would wake up super sweaty after them and would have headache, but you know how often I have headaches..." she blinked as her phone vibrated. She looked at text she got and frowned "Weird... Mother just wrote she is driving to school to pick me up... I don't like this. I am sooooo not in the mood for the lecture on how I should treat that freak... Not that I could run away, though. Damn. We got any of weed left from last weekend? Could use some right now." she said massaging her temples.
Athena shook her head "Sorry, Zoe. Even if we did it is probably at my home. Want me to wait with you for your mother?" Zoe shrugged "May as well."
A few minutes later
Linda and Ember arrived at Zoe's school in Ember's rented out car, stopping in a free parking spot near the school. Both of them got out of car and after locking it made their way to school. They could already see Zoe waiting near the entrance with her friend Athena. Ember turned towards Linda "Mind if I chat with Zoe alone for a bit while you go notify school administration that you are taking Zoe for a day or a few?" Linda shook her head "I don't mind. Let's first go say hello to her though. She should remember you, but just to make sure..." Ember nodded in agreement as the two of them made their way towards the girls.
As they neared the girls Linda greeted her daughter "Hello, Zoe. I hope you remember your aunt Ember? She is moving into town." she introduces Ember. Zoe looked at Ember with narrowed eyes for a bit "Hello." she said in a bit clipped voice and looked at her mom "So, what is this about? I am all up for skipping boring lessons, but this is... weird..." she sounded bit worried, and from looking at her mother's face she could judge that something serious happened. Or was about to happen. Linda looked at her daughter "We will talk in more detail at home. We are due for a serious conversation about our family's future. For now, Athena - could you please lead me to administration? I would like to have quick chat with principal to let her know that Zoe won't be attending school for a few days." she said and Athena nodded, leading Linda inside the building.
Left alone with Zoe Ember used her magical abilities to thoroughly examine Zoe's memories, body and even soul. She narrowed her eyes a bit as she discovered...
