Jon felt a wave of relief wash over him when the bell rang to indicate that class was over. His new friends had spent the entire class gossiping. When they had finally probed enough information from Jon about his apparent date (Jon had to make up some details) they moved on to other topics; boys, fashion, boys, reality TV, boys. Jon tried to drown it all out by paying attention to his teacher.
Jon leaned down to pick up his backpack when he saw that it had been turned into a purse. Startled, he looked up in time to see Tiffany sling his backpack over her shoulders. Sighing defeatedly, Jon picked up the purse and slung his purse over his. He then got up and exited the classroom, his new friends following quickly behind him.
“Hey, Jon! Wait up!” One of them, Erika, said as they struggled to keep up in their heels.
“Is something wrong?” Melissa asked once they had finally caught up. “You barely said a word in class.”
Jon didn’t know what to tell them. He knew that they wouldn’t believe him if he told them that he was randomly swapping clothes with a girl or that that girl was supposed to be their friend. If it wasn’t for the rock, Jon would have a hard time believing it as well.
The three of them grabbed some plastic trays and then joined the queue for lunch. Jon ordered his usual meal which shocked his new friends. Jon sighed, he supposed that Tiffany wasn’t much of a hamburger and fries person.
He shrugged his shoulders and then went to look for a seat. He spotted Karyn sitting on her own. He started to make his way towards when Melissa stopped him.
“Where are you going?” She asked. Jon motioned towards his friend.
“To sit with Karyn.” He told them.
Melissa made a face.
“Ugh. Why would you want to sit with that bitch?”
“Hey!” Jon said, wanting to defend his friend. “Karyn’s not a bitch.”
“Whatever,” Melissa said glancing at Erika. “It’s not like she’d want to talk to you anyway. She hates us.”
Jon, stunned by this new piece of information allowed Melissa to take his hand an lead him to where the rest of the cheerleaders were sitting.
