Jon looked over at Nicole and Karyn, who were already waiting to quickly discuss the presentation. “Now remember, you’re doing the introduction, and then we have the other two sections,” Karyn reminded Jon, who seemed from her perspective to be just a touch out of it.
Wow, that’s not a lot. Do they just expect me to stand in the back and look pretty? Jon wondered if this had happened to girls before the wish.
Nicole seemed to tilt her head, but Karyn came prepared for that and handed her a printout of the presentation to refresh her memory. "Hopefully that jogs your mind," she quickly added in a voice whose huskiness was still jarring to Nicole. She still couldn't get over what Jon said about the stone. She handed it over to Jon for a moment so he could see it as well.
Karyn walked over to the computer and put in the thumb drive that contained the PowerPoint presentation. Slowly, the group gathered at the front, and then Jon began, hesitatingly.
"Our project was to do a presentation on the reproductive system, which of course is one of the most important in our body", he began—and ended. He, too, was getting used to his new and rather sing-songy voice, and when he looked up, he noticed that the girls in the class weren't making eye contact but rather looking a little lower. He wasn't quite sure what to make of that. A couple of girls seemed to be giggling a bit in the back corner. Jay was blushing a lot, too. In any event, his portion was done, and it was time for Nicole to take on the female reproductive system, reading the slide a bit to figure out what exactly to say.
“The female reproductive system is remarkably efficient,” Nicole began as she read each slide, attempting to read it like it was nothing yet also having to process its words. “A woman can spontaneously cause the delivery of an egg and its implantation into the male, but a man cannot expect to simply insert his penis and get an egg. She must trigger the right hormones in the male for the process to work. This prevents a woman from being used, but it also means that a woman can force herself on a man and deliver an egg.”
With the subsection over, Karyn more confidently stepped up to talk about the male reproductive system. "Men are a lot more complicated. For one thing, they experience menstruation periods," she added, making sure the class knew it was called _men_struation for a reason. "These occur every three weeks and involve emotional mood swings, blood in the urine stream, and sometimes general embarrassment. Additionally," she continued looking at the class making eye contact with her, "men also bear children. When an egg is delivered, a nine-month pregnancy begins, and once the baby is fully formed and ready for delivery, a birth canal opens up on the opposite side of the crotch area. The birth canal, though can only be opened with the correct hormonal triggers, and it remains closed otherwise."
Mr. Colby, looking on from a desk where he had sat, one leg on top of the other, nodded. "Good presentation, guys, thanks." They wrapped up, he got back up to the board, and he began to open the health text and teach. "Today, we're going to return to our discussion on..."
