A few minutes later we arrived at my place and headed inside.

“Hello dear,” said my mum as we entered, “Oh hello Biff.”

“Hi Aunt Linda,” he replied.

“Will you be staying for food?”

“Umm, yeah, I guess, why not?”

“Well Zoe’s over her friend’s house all evening and I’m taking Mikey to ballet class when he gets home; I’ll be meeting your dad for food out while Mikey is in dance class Jon, so it’ll just be you two. I was going to order Jon a Chinese, so I’ll order you some too Biff.”

“Thanks Aunt Linda,” he grinned, rubbing his belly.

“Thanks mum,” I replied “We’re going to be hanging out in my room if you need us.”

“Okay boys.”

We headed upstairs and when he was sure my mum was out of earshot Biff whispered “I didn’t know Mikey did ballet.”

“Neither did I,” I replied, shaking my head “He used to have football practice on Mondays.”

“You don’t think this could have anything to do with a wish do you?”

I shrugged, opening my bedroom door. “Could be. I think part of the reason he did it was because of the old you; he saw how you bullied me and maybe he didn’t want you to bully him so tried to look up to you and be like you. When I changed you, none of that happened, so maybe he felt comfortable being himself and didn’t feel like putting on a tough guy persona.”

“So far I’m not seeing any downsides to me becoming a geek.”

I smiled and dumped my bag in a corner. “So, any ideas what to wish for next?”

He shrugged and placed his stone on my desk. “Have you thought about wishing from gramps back?”

I shook my head sadly. “I tried that when I first got the stone, but nothing happened. And I’ve tried wishing for answers, but get nothing.” I sighed and placed my stone on the desk. I was just turning to face Biff when we heard a rattling. As one we turned to face the stones and saw them gently rocking back and fore on the spot. Glancing at each other, we each bent to inspect our respective stone.

“Huh,” said Biff “Those weren’t there before were they?”

“What wer-“ I started to ask, then saw it too. Very faint markings were etched into the surface and they were being lit by an extremely dim internal light. Cautiously turning over my stone, I noticed they were only on one side. Biff turned his over, revealing the same thing. Curious, we glanced at each other and nudged the stones closer. The started rocking quicker, and grew more vigorous as they got closer, the internal light growing brighter and the markings more clear. Then, when they were about six inches apart, all of a sudden they leapt at each other like a nail being moved close to a strong magnet.

There was a a cracking sound and the stones pulsed and let out a magical blast that threw us both across the room into my bed. I blinked after images out of my eyes and stared and the slowly dissipating cloud of smoke where the stones had been. We gasped as it cleared, seeing that the stones had fused together seamlessly. We no longer had two stones, but one.
