“So you’ve finally found a boyfriend fag?” sneered Biff. I glared up at him, noting the bull ears poking out the sides of his head and the matching tail swishing behind him. Next to him stood Steve Farber, whose tail and ears were equine.

Patting Damian’s shoulder I stood up and interposed myself between him and them. “Leave him alone,” I said firmly, crossing my arms.

“Oh look at that,” laughed Steve, “He loves the fag so much he wants to take a beating for him.”

“How sweet,” laughed Biff.

I flushed with anger at their ignorant jokes and replied “You’re just jealous that he fancies a man like me and not a cow like you Biff.” Biff snorted at that remark and I noticed the corners of Steve’s mouth twitch up in a smirk at it. “Don’t know what you’re laughing at; he’s after a stallion, not a mare.” Steve’s eyes flashed with anger at that and he took a step forwards.

“Please Jon,” begged Damian from behind me “Just walk away. Don’t take a beating for my sake!”

I tensed up, preparing for what was coming and replied “When I say, run for it.” Before Damian could reply, Steve swung at me and I dodged aside, then ducked as Biff joined in the fray. Lashing out, I elbowed Biff in the gut and punched Steve on the nose. As they recoiled I shouted for Damian to run.

The two bullies’ nostrils flared and they squared off against me again as Damian made a break for it. I dodged the next punch and leapt aside, clambering over the handrail onto the stairs, following Damian.

“Oi!” roared Biff.

“Come back here!” shouted Steve.

Ignoring them I continued running up the stairs, taking them two at a time. Unfortunately, only being 5’ 5” while both Biff and Steve passed six foot meant that they quickly caught up with me as I reached the top of the stairs. One of them made a grab for me causing me to miss my footing and I tripped. For a few seconds I teetered there, arms flailing, then I was tumbling down the stairs to the cry of “Jon!” from Damian and “Oh crap!” and “Let’s get out of here!” from the two bullies.
