It was Jay Duncan, one of the geeks from school. I considered myself somewhat of a geek, but Jay was on a whole other level. He was kinda aloof, but I got on well with him and thought he was an alright guy. In a flash, my wish memories filled me in on the Jay of this reality and I was relieved that there was very little difference. Well, in my interactions with him that is...
“Forget it,” replied the cat-boy reaching down to help me up “No harm no foul.” As he helped me up I couldn’t help but feel like his eyes were studying me carefully. His slitted pupils were unnerving so I glanced away, but I could have sworn I heard him sniff a couple of times. “Facinating,” he mumbled.
“Pardon?”
“Nothing, just talking out loud to myself. Hmm, very facinating.”
I glanced at him again and resisted the urge to blush. I’d never noticed it before, but he was kinda cute. I’d always thought of him as scrawny, but looking closer he now looked more slim and delicate, and the feline features just enhanced that beauty.
“I, um, I should get going,” I said, looking away once more “Don’t want to be late for school.”
“Indeed, I have to meet up with Leonard, so I need to get a move on too.”
“Uh, see you around then.”
“Yes.”
I hurried away, resisting the urge to look back, but I had the sense that the entire time until I turned the corner that he was just standing there, watching me and studying me with that gaze of his.
