The rock glowed as it granted Jon's wish and he stared at it in horror as he awaited it's outcome. After a few minutes the glow faded and Jon looked around his room to see if anything had changed.
Fortunately nothing seemed to have changed. His walls were still painted blue, his console and TV were still set up on the desk in front of his bed and all of his posters were still hanging up.
“Phew.” Jon said to himself letting out a sigh of relief. “I guess I got lucky.” He thought although he jumped when he heard his Mom calling him down for dinner.
“I’ll be down in a minute!” Jon called back. He got of his bed and gave himself a quick pat down to check that he was still all there, who knows what the wish could have done, and then made sure that the rock was in a safe place before heading downstairs.
Still worried that his wish might have done something, Jon slowly crept downstairs and in to the kitchen. He peered around the door before he entered and sure enough his family were in the kitchen looking as normal as ever.
His younger brother Mikey (10 years old) was sitting at the talking non-stop about his latest comic book, while his younger sister Zoe looked bored out of her mind and probably wanted to be anywhere but the family table. His Mom (Linda) was just finishing serving up the meal when she turned and saw Jon standing by the doorway.
“Are you ok honey?” She asked concerned.
Jon shook his head.
“Huh? Oh, yeah. I'm fine Mom.” He said sitting down next to Zoe.
“Mikey, dear. Please give it a rest.” Linda said politely as she gave everybody a plate and sat down.
Dinner went by as normal without anyone giving any indication that anything was wrong but Jon kept an eye out just in case something had happened. Of course only he would be able to tell because no one else had heard the wish.
After a rather uneventful dinner (well by wishing standards anyway) Jon announced that he was tired and decided that he would call it an early night. He headed upstairs and got dressed for bed. He checked his phone to see if he had had a message from Karyn but nothing was showing, so he set his alarm and drifted off to sleep.
