Meanwhile at the beach a young man was looking at the water.
"What am I doing?" he called out to the ocean. "Why am I not at school?"
Looking around to make sure no one was watching he hid in the dunes, removed all the clothing and ran into the water.
As the water touched his skin it changed. With a sound of pure joy the new seal swam out into the deep water.
"Much better" he thought.
The longing for the ocean he had felt ever since that morning slowly dissipated to be replaced with the human worries.
He went back up the surface to look back to the beach, just on the edge of the horizon, the setting sun telling him exactly how much time had passed.
Another seal came up beside him.
"Welcome" they said "First time in this form?"
He nods "Yes. Are you changed like me?"
"Nope, natural born Selkie. I can take you to to colony. A girl like you should not be alone."
"Girl?" he asks.
"Oh. You were male before. Well, I have good news and bad news. Good news is your human form is still male. Bad news, the longer you spend in seal form the more female the human form becomes. And the longer you spend human the more you lose yourself when you come back to the ocean."
