I could visit them at any time and marry them. From how high their opinion seemed to me, I did not think they would refuse me. There was a knock on the door. I was not expecting anyone. I was approached by a courier. He had a letter for me in hand. I had to report to the cathedral. That was rich. I had not been there since I had been sent on the initiation quest. I liked going to the chapel with Father Curt and Father Shalo because I had a real relationship with them. I had not even been there yet. I was too busy with other missions. I could heal myself so even the free heals every week were not so much of a draw anymore. Because of that, I had to think very hard about whether or not I wanted to go. There was the dangling plotline about the cultists. Going over to see what became of all that might be interesting. I was not as strong as I once was now, but I was still much stronger than practically every single NPC that was here on the continent. I could solve it and farm some serious piety for doing so. I would totally leverage it for a higher position. That seemed to be worth the potential hassle.

By the time I got there, a crowd had already been forming. I approached and asked what was going on. One of the young men there said "Bishop Franco received a big letter from Archbishop Holger. It was announced after Mass today. Did you miss it, Brianne? You're always in the church." I replied "I was visiting family. I have been busy since joining the Church. What happened?" It was Bishop Holger that responded. "I am glad you were able to return so quickly from your trip, Dame Terri." he said. He then approached. I kissed the ring he offered. "Has any progress been made on those cultists?" I asked him. He shook his head. "No. They are watched day and night. It is proving impossible to break their spirits." he told me. One sucked their teeth and snapped "Someone should do something about it. It's not right they can attack churches and not feel the pain when they get caught." Others in the crowd agreed. "What was the letter?" I questioned next. The archpriest said "Archbishop Holger has said that since the force of the Church of the Sky is being flexed we should show it to Ether."

That could mean anything. Seeing that I was not impressed, Bishop Franco sighed and said "In order to show our faith is strong and deter those that would do us and the adherents harm, we must give a display of force. They'll be burned at the stake." Some of the people gathered gasped in surprise. I just blinked at the news. I had not seen any public executions before. I'm sure that if my party was caught in Chegow, we definitely would have been. It would certainly be a sight to see. I asked when we would do it. He looked at me and then the rest of us. "Something worth doing is worth doing well and soon." Once we gather all of the supplies for the pyres, we will burn them in the cathedral plaza. Archbishop Holger has already given his official seal of approval on this. I see no reason to appeal back to him for any reconsideration." That was only fair. We were attacked here. People like Daniel died in this city due to the attacks from the hoard of cultists. If there really was no way to get any information out of them, they needed to pay for their crimes. I was down to watch them. Might even be fun.
