There was a flash and I was thrown back. Groaning I picked myself up and looked in horror at the smoking mess that was my computer. How the hell did that happen? Computers didn't explode. At least they didn't if you weren't in an episode of Star Trek.
Staring at it, something clicked in the back of my head. The rules of the stone set a limit on the range it could effect. For my wish to have worked I'd have had to be transported into the game which would mean getting transported into its servers, which were miles away, well beyond the stone's limits. But why did that make my laptop overload
I shrugged and reached for the stone, then froze. That wasn't my hand. That was...
I looked down at myself and gulped. Somehow the stone had backfired and instead of taking me into the game world hand brought the game world out to me. I was the character I'd selected now, and until I figured things out it looked like that was the real me!
