Arcadia decided it would be better to look into the situation before flying off without a clue as to how this world works. Arcadia removed the mask and, after feeling the same pressure as before, opened her eyes to see plain old Jon standing there. Jon breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that he could take the mask on and off at will.
Jon returned to his room and briefly considered using the stone to get information on how this world worked, only to slap himself when he remembered where the stone went. With no choice, Jon turned to the best resource in the world for fast information: Wikipedia.
Jon started at the beginning and looked up Arcadia. "Arcadia (unknown-2016) was an American metahuman and founding member of the International Metahuman Society, (formerly known as the Metahuman Society of America)" blah blah blah, "Arcadia first appeared in 1986, primarily operating in Boston, Massachusetts." Jon thought to himself, 'Hmm. Grandpa grew up in Boston. Makes sense so far.' Then Jon read the "death" section. "Arcadia was killed in action protecting New York City by metahuman terrorist Darknova."
Jon paused and clicked on Darknova's link. "Darknova (formerly Nova, real name Peter Daley) is an English-American metahuman terrorist and founding member of the International Metahuman Society. Darknova is also famous for being the first known metahuman to come forward." Jon stopped there. In this world, apparently, metahuman is the catch-all term for superhero and supervillain. Jon continued his research. Apparently, metahumans faced persecution and mistrust in the 70's and 80's. Even though metahumans are allowed to operate freely within the Society, operating independently is illegal. Society members are considered legal officials, but are still generally mistrusted by most legal bodies for operating independently from the government.
'How could the stone change this much based on one trope. It went to a lot of trouble to make me a big-breasted superhero.' Jon continued to think to himself, when his doorbell rang. He figured it was Karyn, as he had expected her to come by later. Sure enough, his mother yelled from downstairs, "Jon! Karyn's here!" Jon nodded and sat on his bed, wondering what would happen. When the door opened, Jon was surprised to see Karyn had her old red hair and small breasts. Jon smirked, 'Of course, the stone doesn't exist anymore. Not for the week, anyway.' Karyn was the first to speak up. "So, Jon boy. Did you try it?" Jon nodded, "Oh yeah, it works." Karyn beamed, her smile was wider than he had ever seen. "Really? Come on, show me." Jon was surprised. Karyn was excitable and reckless, certainly, but he had never seen her almost... fangirling. Jon grabbed the mask and took one last look at Karyn before donning it.
A moment later, Arcadia stood in front of Karyn, who nearly exploded with an exclamation of "Oh my God!" but managed to keep herself relatively quiet. "Karyn... are you a fangirl?" Karyn looked almost offended "Jon, how many times have you been in my room and how many times have you seen my Arcadia poster? This is amazing. I can't believe your grandpa was Arcadia, and now you... would you let me try it?" Arcadia rolled her eyes. Of course Karyn wanted to try it. Quite unlike Jon, Karyn jumped in without thinking the situation through. Besides, Arcadia hadn't yet had a chance to try out her powers.
