Jon came early to school the next morning. Class didn't start for another hour. He called Karyn and the others to come as well, giving Stacy and Patrick their memories back (at least for a little bit). He reserved a room, and made a wish that they wouldn't be disturbed. He also wished a mirror was in the room.
"So," Stacy said, "we're going to play again? Sounds like fun."
"It's not quite the same game," Jon replied. "This one's more like old maid, except we have a die." He showed a die, which had numbers -3, -2, -1, 1, 2, 3. He read the instructions.
*"Deal all the cards evenly among all the players. If the player has a match, discard that match and roll the die. If the die is positive, gain that attribute. If negative, lose that attribute. If the player does not have that attribute to lose, draw a personality card and roll the die again, following the same pattern.
There are 4 cards of each attribute, except only one double card. The player who ends up with the double card by the end of the match doubles all of their gained attributes."*
"Sounds exciting," Patrick said in a monotone voice. Jon couldn't tell if he was happy or not.
"Well, let's get started," Karyn said.
The group sat around the table, and Jon dealt out all of the cards.
"Oh, I forgot to mention," Jon said. "We won't change back to ourselves for the entire day. No matter what we turn into, people will recognize who we are, but they won't question how we transformed." The group stared at Jon in disbelief.
"Oh, and if you try to leave," Jon continued, "there will be a consequence. Shall we start?"
