"Great, way to make a fool of yourself on day one," Jasmine muttered to herself as she ducked into her math class, just as the bell rang. She couldn't believe she'd basically face planted into the head cheerleader's chest, and she was resolutely ignoring how good the brief contact felt. She was just so warm, and...NO! Bad, Jasmine! she chastised herself. Having impure thoughts about the golden haired girl running through her mind during Hargreeves class was a sure way to get caught daydreaming.
Truth be told, she still wasn't totally used to her new proportions and center of gravity. As Jon she'd been around 5'11, but now stood only 5'4. Or floated as the case may be. Technically she could float to any height she wanted, but not while manifesting legs, lest people realize she could levitate. That coupled with her d cup breasts and smaller frame, drastically changed her weight distribution and she was only slowly acclimating to her muscle memory from the new reality. Well, either that or I'm just a bit clumsy in any world, she mused while taking her seat. Unfortunately Karyn wasn't in this class, but Jasmine was surprised to find she now sat next to Elizabeth Callahan, who gave her a friendly wave. She didn't think she'd ever even had a conversation with the captain of the girl's swim team in the old world, but discovered that here they were friends.
Mr Hargreeves began taking roll with a sour expression on his face, no doubt because Richie's wish canceled today's test. Jasmine smoothed her dress and stowed her purse and backpack as she calmed down, still a bit frazzled after her hallway encounter. She answered present when Hargreeves called "Galenos," but then almost leapt out of her seat when she heard the next name:
"Gibson"
Karyn really wasn't focusing when Frau Hossenfefer began calling roll, her mind wandering to Jasmine. Was she trying to kill me with that dress, because DAMN! she thought as she pictured Jasmine in the clingy rose covered garment. Maybe it's just my natural inclination towards botany, but, bark on the tree!, that's a valley of flowers I'd love to frolic in. Karyn startled back to the present as her name was called, responding "Ja!" She forced herself back to focus, noting that her thirst for her best friend was growing to ridiculous levels. Maybe her mom was right and she should just take the plunge and ask Jasmine out. Sure, she'd be crushed and things would be awkward if Jasmine said no, but bottling up all her feelings was getting ridiculous.
"Ah, so glad you could join us, Frau McMillan," Frau Hossenfefer said sarcastically as Sarah stepped into class late. Speaking of bottling up your feelings, Karyn thought as Sarah darted to her seat. Something was different about her old friend today. She was as fashionable and put together as ever, but her face was lost in thought, dropping the mask of superiority she usually wore. It made the queen bee look vulnerable, something Karyn knew she hated showing other people, and it filled the dryad with longing. Why did everything have to be so complicated and angsty. She missed Sarah and just wanted a world where she, Jasmine and the dragoness could all be friends together, spending their afternoons hanging out, falling into bed together, fondling each others-
Whoa! Karyn thought as she realized her fantasies taking a less than innocent turn. That was a further complication of her crushes, beyond the fact that they were on her best friend and her former best friend, there were two of them. While relationships with multiple partners were perfectly acceptable within Dryad society, most humans tended to have more of a hang up about that sort of thing. Karyn would just have to keep her feelings for Sarah under her hat if she wanted to approach Jasmine. It was already a longshot that she would want to go out with Karyn, let alone pursue something with her and Sarah at the same time.
