...she is the real Jon. As far as Karyn was aware, she had always been Karyn and to say was the first day she'd found out about the stone. That was a lie. She had actually first encountered the stone just over a year ago and she had revealed it to me pretty much how I'd revealed it to her today. But back then she had been called Jon and I was called Karyn. Over the following months we'd made many wishes until yesterday we'd made a badly worded wish and turned the clock back, switching places. Becoming Karyn, Jon had forgotten all about the stone and as the new Jon, the burden was on me to reveal the stone to the new Karyn.
In fact, the events surrounding me revealing the stone to Karyn were eerily similar to those when she, as Jon, had told me about the stone when I was Karyn. And that scared me. What if this wasn't the first time we'd switched? What if we were doomed to repeat the same mistakes over and over again? In a year, would I become Karyn again and forget all about the stone?
I stared at my phone, wondering if I should call. Wondering if I should break the cycle if there was one.
