I hadn't been entirely truthful with Karyn. I'd wanted to tell her everything, but things had gotten away from me and I'd missed my chance earlier. Karyn thought that thus far my wishes had been small and harmless, like the one with the branch, but that was not the case. She also thought that I'd only had the stone for a short time, but that too was false. I'd had the stone for a few months, and had made several wishes since getting it, some small, some large. Shortly after inheriting the stone, my dog Karyn had fallen ill and the vet had wanted to have her put down. I'd used the stone to save her life, and then had gone on to make her intelligent and given her the ability to speak. We'd bonded and become closer and better friends until without thinking I'd wished her human and wished her a family and a human life. And with that had come her forgetting all about the stone. And that lead me to today.
I stared at my phone wondering, should it call her, or should I keep it secret?
