"The mall. I can't go there" Jon stammered, even though he knew he had little choice in the matter as Sarah was driving.
"Why?" Sarah asked, without any hint of malice, or bemusement. It was like it was normal for a boy to be dressed as a female cheerleader, or more specifically, Jon to be dressed that way. No other guy seemed affected.
"I don't have any money on me" Jon said truthfully, though that wasn't the real reason. He wondered if Sarah and everyone else perceived him as a girl.
"Don't worry about that, Jonnie. I'll pay for everything" Sarah said in a cheerful voice, something that Jon was unused to hearing. Sarah was rich, but she wasn't that rich in that she would waste a couple hundred dollars for a prank. As soon as she pulled up into the mall's carpark, Jon jumped out of the car, intending to get away from Sarah, and to hide from everyone else, but Sarah grabbed his hand.
"I can't let you pay for all this" Jon protested.
"Trust me, I want to do this for you" Sarah insisted as she lead him to a salon, where to Jon's alarm, Sarah had already made a booking. The only good thing was that everyone that Jon encountered was like Sarah; nonplussed by his appearance.
The stylist came over to Jon and Sarah and took a look at Jon's hair. "Sorry, but I don't have any extentions that color."
Jon allowed himself a small smile, but it fell flat when Sarah said, "It's okay. Jonnie wants to have a different color."
"What?" Jon protested as he tried to get up from his chair, but the stylist was already attaching his new shoulder length extensions to his hair. As she worked, the stylist asked Sarah what color she should dye Jon's hair.
"I'm not sure" Sarah said slightly hesitantly. "I think Jonnie would make a great blonde, but.... It would be totally you, maybe for team dynamics, maybe a different color. Maybe a red, or black."
An hour later, Jon's new hairstyle was complete. He stared at his reflection, in horror as he saw that in the end, Sarah thought he was best suited as a blonde, and had ordered the stylist to dye his hair a strawberry blonde. Sarah also had a small collection of hair accessories for his new hair, which he had no doubt she intended to use.
