"But you've always been a stunt double," Karyn said, exasperated, exhausted, "ever since you dropped out of school. You said it was your dream."
Jon sat on his bed in a pair of short-shorts and a tight t-shirt. He had survived the embarrassment of being seen by Karyn while he was wearing nothing but his black bra and panties, only to be painfully reminded that the wishing stone changed everybody else's memories to match reality, unless they hear the wish. The entire time that it took him to get dressed, his best friend kept trying to remind him of his life choices, how happy he was with the life he was living, and how lucky he was to have found a career that worked with his skill set (he was pretty sure that by "skill set" she meant body).
"That's only because I made a wish, but I didn't mean to become Scarlett Johansson's stunt double! I would have never wanted to double a woman!"
"Jon," Karyn began again, after a long sigh, "How could you be a stunt double for anyone BUT a woman? With hips like that? Besides, this way you get to crossdress every day without anyone batting an eye. That's exactly what you said you wanted in life."
Nothing Jon said seemed to make a dent in Karyn's logic. She didn't care that he had made a wish; from her perspective, the wish must have only fulfilled the dreams he'd already had since her memories lined up with what she was seeing in front of her. From her point of view, Jon had always been a feminine boy, an avid crossdresser, and ambitious to get into the movies. She figured that his wish must have kick-started his career, so what was the big deal?
Jon crossed his smooth legs and stared at his friend. She looked tired, which made sense. He had woken her up to talk to her, and back home it was the middle of the night. Should he wish for her to have more energy? While he was at it, should he wish for her to remember him the way he was before? No, he decided, he drew the line at messing with his friend's mind. If his previous wish had changed reality so firmly that he was stuck as Scarlett Johansson's body double, how would it change reality if he started messing with her mind?
That made him pause. How had it changed reality to justify Karyn being in his trailer with him, rather than back home asleep? What kind of consequences would there be for her because of his impatience? He didn't have to wait long for an answer, because...
