Sometime later, after finishing their sushi and ice cream, the two Djinni sat watching the sun set over the meadow. Jasmine tilted her head in confusion, "I meant to ask, how is it I'm here? I mean, I know you were powerful Yaya" (Asteria had encouraged her to use the familial nickname for grandmother,) "but I didn't think anyone could enter another Djinn's Heart."
Asteria stretched her arms out before leaning back against the cherry tree. "Normally you'd be right, but we're the exception to that. When I granted your wish turning you into a Djinn, since you were at the epicenter of the change, your magical signature became an extension of mine. Now, we're not drawing on the same source, you have your own internal magic and I have what remains in my Heart, but they're on the same wavelength so to speak. It shouldn't come up to much, since I'm no longer in the land of the living, but essentially it means that things like wards and sensors might get us mixed up with one another." Jasmine felt honored all over again at sharing something so intimate with the other woman, and also a little proud to have similar magic to the Starry Djinn.
"Which actually brings me to an important point, I believe you wished to know what to do?" Asteria teased, referencing the wish she'd coopted to pull Jasmine into her heart. Jasmine grinned shyly and nodded. "Well, I recommend you make two wishes on my Heart after you leave here. First, wish to assimilate your memories of this new world, I'll feed them to you slowly so as to not overwhelm you but you'll need to know your own life. Secondly, wish to hide my Heart in your lamp; don't worry, I won't rearrange your vessel on you, it will essentially create a door in your vessel into mine; that way my Heart is protected and we can still talk if you want to."
"Of course I want to!" Jasmine blurted out, having come to care a great deal for the older woman in the short time she'd known her. Asteria's eyes twinkled, "I'm glad to know I'm good company. I will be needing to rest awhile after working all this magic, but let's say I've become rather invested in seeing the Djinn you'll become." Her words brought another blush to Jasmine's cheeks.
"Lastly, live your life Jasmine. I'm sure you'll make it a great one." With Asteria's final words, Jasmine felt herself shifting again, as she began to turn to smoke and flow back out of the heart, until she found herself standing once again in her room, although much calmer and happier than when she'd left it.
