I can't wait to hit the weight room, Matthew Colby mused. But first I gotta go to school and that sucks.
The star wide receiver for Victor Hills had no time to waste, it seemed. He wanted to focus all his energy on football, on getting offers, and on ultimately deciding which of the big Power 5 schools to go to.
Abruptly, the bus jerked to a stop at an intersection about halfway along its route. The yellow light had come quickly, a little quicker than the driver anticipated. Matthew, not expecting the force of a rapidly stopping school bus, slid a bit on the bus's leather seats, and then he proceeded to slide off the seat entirely, hit his head and fall to the metal floor of the bus.
"Guhhh," the football star groaned. He felt like he'd taken a huge hit and he could not get up. Nobody noticed, and if they had, they would have seen that something was seriously wrong with Matthew. He began to shrink in his own body, from the 6'3" frame perfect for catching footballs and scoring touchdowns. With every inch of body height lost, something else went away.
6'2". His hands began to shrink, as did his feet. He was shedding weight.
6'1". His short hair began to grow wildly long, and on its fringes it began to fade from a coffee brown into a light beach blonde.
6'0". His chest began to push out from under him, though the impact of his head injury left him oblivious.
5'11". What was between his legs receded as he continued to lose weight and general size.
5'10". The red Victor Hills football T-shirt began to morph into a hot pink dress, fusing with his blue jeans.
5'9". Matthew's sneakers began to sprout high heels and lose their laces.
5'8". The data on Matthew's phone furiously rewrote itself.
5'7". Instead of a football uniform photo in his wallet, Matthew Colby's new face was on a cheerleading uniform.
5'6". Matthew barely sensed that he was slightly lighter. Had he spoken and said something he would have heard a much higher voice.
5'5". The changes accelerated. The hair was entirely blonde, the body entirely female and well-endowed. Matthew Colby was not a football player any longer, that was for sure.
Suddenly, as the bus came to a halt at the school, a 4'11" girl jumped up from the seat. She sported a hot pink dress, black heels and was excited to get through the day so she could go to cheerleading practice.
Like, Melissa, you ready for the day? she said to herself. She was. But it was going to be a different day than the football player boy had ever known.
